Mark Maynard on the Issues
Conservative Leadership & Faith
Senator Maynard is a lifelong conservative guided by strong Christian values. Raised in a Christian home, he believes faith, family, and personal responsibility are the foundation of strong communities. In the Senate, he consistently stands for pro-life principles, Second Amendment rights, and limited government.
Infrastructure & Transportation
As Chairman of the Senate Transportation Infrastructure Committee, Senator Maynard is focused on fixing what the government too often neglects: roads, bridges, and long-overdue projects that matter to everyday West Virginians. He is a leading advocate for completing Interstate 73/74 through Southern West Virginia—a project that would unlock economic growth, improve safety, and better connect the region to opportunity.
Water, Utilities, & Cost of Living
Access to clean, reliable water is one of the most pressing issues facing Southern West Virginia. Senator Maynard is working to address both water availability and water quality, while also fighting high utility costs that hit retirees and families on fixed incomes the hardest.
Jobs, Small Business, & Economic Growth
A lifelong small business owner, Senator Maynard understands firsthand what it takes to meet payroll, manage regulations, and keep the doors open. In the Senate, he fights overregulation, supports tort reform, and pushes policies that allow job creators to grow.
Outdoor Recreation & Land Access
West Virginia’s natural beauty is one of its greatest assets, and Senator Maynard has been a leading voice for expanding responsible outdoor recreation. From trail development to motorized access and tourism, he has championed policies that protect public lands while making them accessible—including for the elderly and physically disabled. He also serves on the board of the BlueRibbon Coalition, advocating nationally for land access and outdoor recreation rights.
Broadband & Connectivity
Reliable internet access is no longer optional—it’s essential. Senator Maynard supports expanding broadband and cellular coverage across rural West Virginia so families, students, first responders, and businesses aren’t left behind.
Helping Those in Need
Senator Maynard believes compassion and accountability can go hand in hand. He is developing legislation to address homelessness with a structured, humane approach that helps people get back on their feet while respecting public safety and property rights.
